Babes In Bikeland
This is a great event - the largest girls-only alleycat bicycle race in the country, held in Minneapolis, MN. Racers recieve a manifest with a list of stops, and are on their own to figure out route and order. They recieve stamps at stops, sometimes after completing additional tasks.
The design for this one isn't nearly as complete as I would have liked, but for the most part it was thrown together in one day. It actually started as the 'dreamy' theme from the marketplace and looked like this by 2am.
Once the layout was done, we took a second day for training the organizers to use the site, and put up the paypal buttons for preregistration. We did those with HTML blocks, Concrete5 made it amazingly simple. Even though the site was about a month after the target launch date (I've been busy) they've already passed the number of racers from last year in pre-registrations!
The race is happening 9/19/09, I will be updating the site again after with some galleries, race results, maybe video if someone shoots it again this year. I've already recieved inquiries from organizers in other cities about creating sites for their races, too!
