Specializing in assignment and stock photography on location and in the studio, John strives to bring the highest level of technique and artistic expression to every assignment. The former staff photographer for the Syracuse Newspapers has a Masters degree in Photojournalism from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University and over twenty-five years of experience in photography.
The stock photo file maintained at John Dowling Photography has been an essential source of images used to market the area for tourism, economic development and corporate recruiting. Scenes of the city and surrounding landscapes, sports and recreation, cultural activities, education, housing, and health care form the basis of the collection. Always interested in expanding the file, John “self-assigns” photos of places and events to update the file and seeks corporate assignments which supply the file with photos representative of industry and community services. These “stock” images have been useful in a number of different projects including the Onondaga County Travel Guide, the Community Guide, the New York State Travel Guide, various magazines, the lobby of the Hancock International Airport, and numerous trade show displays.
