Established in 2001, the institute is a meeting place dedicated to the development of teaching and research activities as well as the dissemination of knowledge in Canadian Studies in both French and English. The institute manages a multidisciplinary program that brings together social sciences (political science, sociology, history, geography and economy), natural sciences (biology and environmental sciences), the arts and humanities (literature, theater, music).  More than ever the Canadian Studies Institute is committed to remaining a national and international leader in the field of Canadian and diversity studies. Francophone faculty in an Anglophone university, Campus Saint-Jean, experiences a great dimension of the Canadian reality thus the need for courses and research in Canadian Studies around the subject of "Canadian Francophonies and federalism".
