5.7 Marketplace & PRB

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Couple of questions on the Marketplace & PRB for 5.7 add-ons/themes:

1) Do we have a timeline for when the PRB will start accepting 5.7 submissions?

2) Is there a code/submission style guide for new 5.7 submissions against which PRB members should review submissions, and of course developers, build them?

I ask the second question as it seems a lot of stuff is not explicitly deprecated under 5.7 but there are new 'preferred' ways of doing things. Presumably we as developers will be asked to build to the new ideology rather than do things using older techniques the core team may wish to fully deprecate down the line. If so presumably the PRB will have to check/enforce this?

A couple of things that jump to mind include routes and js/css asset inclusion.

Some guidance and timeline info would be appreciated if possible.

Good question. There are some notes on converting packages to 5.7, but no guidelines on 5.7 code or style for marketplace submissions.

The PRB is not currently equipped to evaluate 5.7 submissions and neither is the marketplace equipped to sell or support them. While such won't be required until 5.7 is officially released, there seems little point in releasing it without such infrastructure in place.

A few weeks back there was discussion on how the new marketplace would function, but no detail on how it would support 5.7 or how packages supporting both 5.7 and earlier versions of c5 would work with it.
