5.7.1 error message after enabling maintenance mode

Just installed 5.7.1 and after enabling maintenance mode got the error below when attempting to get to the home page or login page. I was able to back up and disable it but had I logged out I would not have been able. How to fix so that I can enable maintenance mode? Thanks.
