5.7.x maintenance: less files, less problems

Good day everyone,

I recently found c5 and think it's a great product. I see the archive is 30 megs, the install is 60 megs, and very quickly after installing I got to a 100 meg folder when testing it.

I did some looking about how to clean up, delete files, and do maintenance. But then I realized that 5.7.x seems to be a large update to 5.6.x and earlier. I don't know if any of those ideas or methods are still valid.

There was a plugin that was talked about, but I'm sure it's not compatible with the new version.

There was talk of emptying out the /update /cache folders and old version (wherever those are). Before I got in to it I realized they might not apply.

What should I do to keep my site fit & trim, including removing old versions when a site is just perfect.

Did you install the sample content? We install a rather large amount of imagery and make many thumbnail images (for responsive websites, high resolution displays, etc...) in the sample content. If you don't need to start from the sample content you might consider reinstalling Concrete5 after deleting the contents of the files/ folder.

If that's not the issue and you find that files/cache/ is growing to large levels you might try running the "Clear Cache" job from time to time. If that's the case it also might be something we at the core team should take a look at (a ballooning cache directory.)

Just this moment I set up Concrete5 for a new website. After running the install on 5.7.2 downloaded just today, I get a directory size of 88 mbs, with an empty site. (And the zip file has already be removed).

This one page site that a new client needed up fast is 95 mbs:http://ceremonysolutions.ca/

But my primary question was is there any maintenance I need to do: files not being deleted, directories to clean out after upgrade. Anything I should keep in mind?
