what i i doing wrong?

use \Concrete\Core\Page\Controller\PageController;
class EmailSignup extends PageController {
   public function view() {
       $this->set('error', '123');
   }
}

Verify that your single page is here

application/single_pages/email_signup.php

your controller is here:

application/controllers/single_page/email_signup.php

And your namespace is wrong. It should be Application\Controller\SinglePage;
