cannot connect to host; error = Connection timed out

I am unable to send emails:

cannot connect to host; error = Connection timed out (errno = 110 )

use gmail as external method

any suggestions?

Probably some setting on the server is not right with sending emails, are you able to check with he hosting company?

Did you setup an external SMTP server? This guide I did will walk you through the steps:
