Getting error SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error

Hello All,
When I was running the update query on my localhost, it gives me "SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error" , but the database was updating properly?
Any one can help me because unable to find the proper solution.

had the same after upgrading 14.04 -> 16.04 and an old variable was wrong in my cnf so mysql didn't start.
