Hi I am looking for a way to provide a "Free" (wink, wink!!) ebook or whitepaper from my website, in exchange for their email.

I know that there is a way to create a members area in C5. I don't need to keep and manage members accounts. Just a quick name and email address and the user is granted permission to see or get the content. is there a way to do that in C5?

Thanks for your help

Unfortunately, no, there currently isn't any addons that do this. So this is something that would need custom development.

OK, I thought I was not looking in the right places. Thanks for your reply.

You could also consider using an external service for this (such as Mailchimp):

Thank you, Jordif. That could be a viable option to consider. However, I was hoping to find some way to host it within my hosting server. - nevertheless, it definitely worth looking into.
Thank you.

Are you aware that it's possible to allow auto registration of members? I guess you wouldn't be able to capture a list downloaders for a specific file/item this way.

I wonder how difficult it would be to derive a block from the mail/contact block to do somethng like this?

Hey Rick,
Thanks for your reply. - and yes, I am aware of the auto registration for the members area, but as you mentioned, my intention is to track who downloads what and gather a list of potential prospects in the process.

It would be a much needed block for people to incorporate in their sites. - "Hint, hint" for the developers out there!

If you want to use concrete5 for this, as RickJ suggests, you could enable auto registration.
If you need a really simple solution, you could even use the core Form block and include the link to your ebook in the "Thak you" message.

Anyway, I've just checked the marketplace for an add-on that could be used for this, and found this:

http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/opt-in-free1...

I'ts free and according to the description it can be used to "ask for e-mail in exchange for download".

I've never used but it has good reviews, so you could give it a try.

Hey Jordi,
Thanks again. I think you are into something here! - The core form with a link-back to a private page would work. Thanks.
Unfortunately the "Opt-In Free 5.7 - Pop-ups & Slide-ins" does not work with the latest version of C5 (see attachment). I was at C5 version 5.7.5.6 and had to go through the upgrading process to see if it would work, but no go. Thank you for your contribution, much appreciated!
