These forums you're looking at will be available as an add-on by the end of the year. If there are features you'd like to see in it that you're not looking at, let us know...
We've already got a spellcheck we just turned off.. what else?
users own posts are not editable, would be a good feature to have.
Also, the forums image addon requires you to resize manually your picture if within bounds. You can notice in my AV that the quality has really gone down. Original size for my avatar was 18KB, bigger than what your settings are tho but some forums keep the quality when resizing.
what we have right now is a discussion list page type and a discussion page type. You can tie permissions to a group or individual though the same permissions interface as anywhere else.
So, for example, as we add pages for blocks and apps we'll be able to add a forum and issue tracker to each one of those pages and let the block owner administrate it.
well my complete inability to actually find the thread where we brought up what got done in 08 and what didn't probably points to the limitations around search in our forums today....
to rehash.. yes, we intend to release it soon, no, not tomorrow. It works well for us but it's got a ways to go before its a shrink-wrappable product.
Oooh I can't wait for this.
I have a forum running externally but it'll be great to be able to integrate this into my C5 site.
Thanks for so much quality. :)
Hey can we transfer phpbb3 forums (Users + threads in database) to the concrete 5.
Means is there any script by which we can migrate forums from phpbb3 to concrete 5 forum(add on).
there is a copy of what we use here that a few folks are beta testing, but i already have a list of features we need to add to it before i'm comfortable releasing it.
As has been pointed out in other threads, we're still in a position where this development is happening in free time, so a large gig we're just now wrapping up has pretty much desomated any schedules we might have had for this project. Until we're financially in a situation where managing the core and building add-ons is all we worry about (and thats in the works), its just silly for me to make promises about when things will get done.
Any news on this one? I'm wondering should I start to integrate separate forum engine (probably phpBB), start to build a simple forum myself or is the release just around the corner? Appreciate your efforts though, it's better to make it good before release, than to make a bunch of patches afterwards. :)
- Quick reply box would be another idea.
Haven't tried but does
quote
works?
