Image Slider

I am looking for an image slider that will allow us to schedule the images and expire the old ones. It must be able to link to both internal and external links and it needs to be able to use the image description so screen readers can decipher. We are currently using a free slider that is working great but there is no scheduling capability. Anyone know of a block that will do all this?

I don't and I have investiagted pretty much every slider on the c5 market. But what I would look at is maybe choosing a slider that gets images from pages, so 1 image per page. Then make a page for each slide and you can then do publish and expiry dates on the page itself. May not work - but I don't think what you are asking for is currently available (but dont take my word for it)

Although it depends a little on how your current slider has been coded, you could try setting timed permissions for the image files themselves via the file manager.

Once you turn on advanced permissions you get many more options for permissions and in this case you could try setting the permission for the 'Guest' user to a specific length of time. Click on the little clock icon when you are editing the permissions.

If the slider has been coded properly, it should look to see if it's actually got permission to use the file and adjust accordingly.

Even if the slider doesn't currently do this, I'm pretty sure this would be the best way to handle this, tweaking the slider to respect the file permissions, rather than trying to code into a slider another set of features to control the scheduling.

Thank you both for your responses. I was afraid of this. I had looked at all the sliders I could find too but was hopeful there was one I was missing. I will play around with the suggested work arounds. Maybe this request will give one of the slider developers an idea for a future feature. :)
