I have a number of clients where a block that grabbed print friendly pages would come of great use.

Wouldn't you normally specify an additional CSS stylesheet for printing, which formats things correctly?

Is this to provide a special handling for certain blocks, to not only change the CSS, but structure or content of the block?

Could be nice to spec what areas are included in when hitting print and to set the fonts and stuff.
Should be possible to generate the print.css on the fly.

Not sure if this has been resolved or not but there is a add on in the market place that does this now.

This addon just adds a print button, it doesn't have any area selection or advanced print css generation.

You still have to create your own print.css
