3 forum improvements

Hi. I love the new redesign on the site, but I feel like there are a few small UI improvements that could be made which would really help usability:

1) In the old site, the popup window for adding a reply to a forum thread could be dragged around. This was very useful for referring back to the original post while typing your response. In the new forum, the popup window is not draggable, which I have found to be very annoying when trying to respond to posts. If this could be turned on easily, that would be great.

2) Responding to a forum post should automatically turn on "monitoring" for you -- just like if you create a new post, you will automatically receive email updates, I think replying to a thread should also do this. Sometimes I forget to do this when I reply and then I don't see followup responses and the OP thinks they're being ignored.

3) Concrete5.org nav menus still have a delay after you mouse out of them. I realize this is probably very subjective, but I think these should immediately disappear as soon as your mouse leaves the menu area. I find it very annoying to have those covering up page content every single time I view a page (they're impossible to not hover over as I move the mouse around to different pages). Generally I think the delay is useful when you have a third-level navigation menu, because it simulates the desktop OS feature of the menu staying open when moving to these third-level menus. But since there is no third-level menu, why the delay?

Thanks again for the great redesign!

I am all for #1. #2 could be a checkbox in the post/reply lightbox. Indifferent about #3.

I would venture that much of this stuff is in the works still.

#1 is actually still working, you just have to grab the right handle.. right now try the post reply title of the box..

#2 does seem like a bug/ui issue we should address.

Yeah, we can turn on auto-monitoring for a reply. That's a good point. I thought our system was malfunctioning because I didn't get a response after responding to a thread in chit chat (which is a forum i'm not monitoring) until i realized that i wasn't monitoring the post, i had just responded to a post within the topic.

..and number 3 is subjective. I like the delay because i get frustrated when i accidentally move out of a menu and then the menu immediately goes away. Feels very "blinky" and "twitchy." The lag time on it might be a bit high, though.

id agree with theses, and would add that on the ipod touch when youre trying to reply the layout gets messed up- the reply box goes to a spot waaay off screen, and it jerks to the screen occasionally, so its sort of hard to type.

Hmm... I'm using Chrome (tried on both Windows and Mac), and the window is not draggable from anywhere (including "Post Reply" title), so maybe it's just a browser bug?

Weird. Well I'm on a PC now and it's definitely not working in Chrome, Firefox, or IE8.
I could be totally wrong about Mac (not near one right now so I can't confirm).

Nah, you're right. It should be fixed now, though. Weren't including the jquery.ui library for those not logged in as admins on the discussion detail page (but we WERE including it on the discussion page, so you could drag the new post window.)
