5.4

Do you consider 5.4 dead, and all new install to be 5.5.1?

If we have 5.4 sites with lots of scrapbook stuff, seems like it a ball ache to convert to stacks. How long do we leave 5.4 sites before needing to update?

If you have existing scrapbook blocks in your 5.4 installation, they still work when you upgrade to 5.5 and you will see Scrapbooks in the Dashboard.

Sure the scrapbook items are still there, but sooner or later the client will want scrapbook item editing - Can I still edit scrapbook entries in 5.5 ?

Yes. You just can't add stuff to scrapbooks from pages, and you can't
add new scrapbooks to pages.

Generally its our job to move up and onwards. There's nothing in 5.4
that is problematic from a security standpoint, so if you don't want
to upgrade - don't. That being said, all of our attention is on 5.5.1
and greater.

Don't get me wrong, I love 5.5 and the idea of stacks. I'm just thinking about how to manage older sites.

Would the core team consider adding in dashboard/page functions to bring in scrapbook functionality in 5.5? Is there really any technical blocker to this or just your preference to kill scrapbooks?

I would agree not to have scrapbooks enabled by default on new instances, or promote scrapbook functions, just add those functions for those sites that are migrating to 5.5

Is there anything in the core or 5.5 to block a 3rd party creating a 'revive scrapbook functions for 5.5 addon'?

Many thanks

No we won't be adding any ability to continue creating new stuff with
scrapbooks in the future. They are fundamentally ganked compared to
stacks.

That being said, I could see someone writing a "create stack from
scrapbook" routine - either as a pull request for the core, or
actually as an add-on. That'd be smarter as it would get out sooner
and it would be pretty valuable to folks who aren't eager to do the
work by hand..

Listen up 3rd party devs - there's a good one for ya!

I have no stacks yet and I've found where my scrapbooks are, but am unsure how to convert them (or if I should).

I have some forms saved as scrapbooks that I reuse. I've made a mess in the past where I end up with more reports than I need (and I cannot figure out how to delete them).

From my understanding, the scrapbook feature is now the copy/paste feature? How do I make a global change?

For example, if I want to change the e-mail address(es) the form is sumbitted to, how do I make sure that changes on all the forms throughout the site?

scrapbooks are more akin to stacks now. You should be exploring them.
