5.5.1 - File Manager question

Permalink 1 user found helpful
I have uploaded mp3 files for sermons for our church.. In these sermons in file manager, I have added a description. For example: Dog and Butterfly

Is the Description not picked up by the site search?

I have cleared the cache, I have re-built the index, sitemap.xml and I am still not seeing butterfly when I query on it from the main site search.

Thanks,

Kent

Search is only going to look at content on pages. If you place these
files on pages along with their description, search will bring back
the pages they sit on.

It only looks at the content of the page.. But if we display this as content on the page, shouldn't the searcher put that in there. I understand that this a disconnected content from the page as it is coming over from File Manager.

Consider the following page:
http://www.calvinpresbyterian.org/sermons/sermons/...

I search for:
Hobos
Stray Dogs and Hobos

and neither of which show when doing a search on the site even though I "stuffed" that information into the mp3 files. The big question is why should I be relegated to update the display when I am using "List files from Set" add-on with a bit of a modification to show these file in what I would call a recordset (Yes, I am a Windows guy)? And the set now also includes the description too.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Kent

Hi Kent,

This seems to be an issue with the file block not having all its information indexed for search. We are planning on fixing that in the next release.

I am assuming this is considered a bug?

Kent, Are you using a third party add-on like "List Files from Set"?

Yes. I am using that for the mp3s.

Ah, I think I know what's going on here. The text is being displayed in a block from that add-on. It's likely that the add-on is not using the get Searchable Content function correctly (or at all). You should check with the add-on developer to see if he/she can correct that.
