Cannot add user/group to page permissions - advanced permissions

Hi, folks.

I'm running into a pretty serious issue with my c5 install. I'm running 5.4.2.2 in a LAMP setup, and up until recently, everything had been running very smoothly. We're using c5 as a CMS for a document library, and I've had advanced permissions going since the start, with no hitches.

However, my manager wanted me to add another template for use by some of our techs. I made the addition, but forgot to set the appropriate permissions for the Editor and Supervisor groups to be able to work with that default page. I discovered my error when I was testing the ability to add a page with a dummy Editor account in order to develop a job aid on how to add pages to the document library. That's when I found this issue.

I can modify the permissions for groups already associated with a page, but I cannot add or delete a group from the permissions. So if my page already has the Editors group associated with it, I can change the various permissions associated with that group on that page (for example, in my original template).

If I attempt to delete a group, however, the Save button becomes non-functional. If I attempt to add a group (as I have been trying to do with my new template), the Add User/Group dialog cannot be closed once I have selected a group to add.

If I move the Add User/Group dialog down far enough on the screen so I can see the Page Permissions window, I can see that the new group has been added to the Page Permissions window, and I can click the checkboxes associated with that group. But I cannot click the Save button to save my changes, nor can I close the Add User/Group dialog.

Definitely need help ASAP on this one.

Okay, it took a little searching, but I found out that the problem didn't necessarily lie with concrete5, but with some glitch in an old version of Firefox (which is what was on this workstation I recently started using). I had been working on a laptop with different browser options, but was locked into Firefox 3.6 on this machine. I did manage to get it upgraded, and the problem disappeared.

This forum post was quite helpful:
