I assume you already checked your spam/junk folder for the password email. Are you trying to access the root (admin) user account or a different account?

I started again, deleted all and now reinstalled. So I am now in the Concrete5 environment, it says I am logged in as Admin, if I logout and login again, I don't know what the admin password is, where is this set up - is there a screen I can change it in, and if so I assume I then login with admin and password - thanks again !

In concrete5.4, the password is assigned to you as a random number string. If you don't write it down and the email doesn't work, it is probably lost forever.

However, since you are logged in as the admin user you can go to your dashboard and click on "Users and Groups", then click on the admin user, then click on "edit user" and change the password to whatever you want.

I recently upgraded for new version on C5 and permissions got really messed up.
It also deactivated the following Add Ons:

'Advanced Guestbook Comment' is not working, 'Simple Blog Post' is not working, 'Popup Menu' is not working.

Not all add-ons are compatible with 5.5. You will need to verify that each add-on is compatible with 5.5 and that you have the latest version.

As far as your permissions errors, what exactly are you seeing? Are you getting error messages or are users/groups not able to access pages properly? Please provide more information.
