Changing Page Types Screws Up Editing

I have a site in production under C5 and I recently changed the page type of a page and C5 started acting weird. The change took but I could not edit the page (click and click on the edit button) anymore. Also, I can add a new page but I can't edit it. It looks like C5 has lost track of the pages and doesn't know which page I want to edit. Existing pages can still be edited but now I can't add new ones. I deleted the page whose page type I changed and tried to re-add it without success. Something looks seriously wrong and this is a production site. Any help would be appreciated.

Tried deleting and re-create the entire page type or taking out all changes of the page type you changed yet?

Thanks. It looks like there may be some issue with the page type - not the code, which is the same as another page type with one minor text field exception. In fact I took the page type that has no issues, renamed the file to the existing page type that is having issues, and uploaded that to the themes directory. The issue still existed. I know that the code is ok since it works fine as one page type. It is almost as if it is not recognizing the page type. I will try your suggestion later tonight when the site will not be being used much. Again thanks for the suggestion.

that sounds super odd, but it sounds like it'd be related to some css in the template file for the page type.

You can actually change page type from Dashboard > Sitemap as well, so that might help if you switch to a page type that isn't really happy and can't switch back.

I tried Brain's suggestion, deleting the broken page types completely and then I recreated the broken type from one I knew worked and everything was ok. I then made my little changes to reflect the differences in the two page types and everything still worked. Thanks to both of you for the help and the time.
