email problems

Hi

I have received 8 different failure messages in my email inbox over the last few days. They all say the same thing. The message is from concrete 5 and is dated 1970! I contacted my host company who responded with the following message.

Hi Danielle,

The error in the bounce back message will tell you what the problem is:

--------------------------------
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at mail8.qnetau.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<apache@host2.concrete2.com>:
Sorry, I wasn't able to establish an SMTP connection. (#4.4.1)
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.
--------------------------------

There seems to be issues with the MX/Mail Server for host2.concrete2.com. We can can not access any mail service, on host2.concrete2.com, from internal or external sources. Even running a Dig, to view the DNS entries of the domain, shows errors with the mail service. The issue seems to be with the mail service on host2.concrete2.com.

We can see Horde is running and responding very well. What address is in question here?

contact@foxymamaclothing.com is set up to forward to danielleloy@yahoo.com only. There is no Mailbox feature enabled, so it will not store emails.

info@foxymamaclothing.com does have a mailbox feature, we which we can quickly access using Webmail:

Please let us know if you still have issues.

Hi

further to my last post - my host company sent the email below.

Is this something i can get concrete5 to fix without paying? It seems odd if i have to pay for what seems like a concrete5 server malfunction.

Can anyone offer assistance?

Danielle,

I had a closer look at your bounce message again, it seems that your autoresponder is trying to auto-respond to "apache@host2.concrete2.com".

My guess is that you have a web site with concrete2.com and this web site has a web form that would submit an email to you info@foxymamaclothing.com
Then in turn, info@foxymamaclothing.com is sending an auto responder to the email that got submitted through the web form.

The problem here is that the emails that got sent by your web form at concrete2 didn't have the correct Return-Path header, and as a result, it defaulted to the server's address (which doesn't exist).

Hence why you are seeing the bounce error message.

If the above sounds a bit complicated, the short version is this: you need to fix the web form script at concrete2 so that it would set the Return-Path header to the email address of the person that submitted the form.

We actually have an article regarding this very issue, along with the code / solution for it.
