Guestbook/Comments Mailer

Permalink 1 user found helpful
I have a client Concrete 5 site. The web files are stored on one host, but the Email accounts are hosted elsewhere. When I place an email in the notify email section of the Comments section. If a person posts a comment, and notify email is email@myweburl.org, the email doesnt actually process. If the notify email is email@anotherurl.com then it gets sent out. This is using the Default PHP Mail Function. Ive tried the SMTP with a email@myweburl.org account, but so far have not been successful.

Any thoughts on this. Unfortunately the client doenst want to have email and web files on the same host.

the web machine probably needs to have its local MX records set to
know about the external mail server. We see this a lot.
Basically the webserver assumes it is the email server for the domain,
even though the rest of the internet assumes its not.

Ask your sysadmin to poke around
best wishes

I've had this issue before. Your server needs to be set up to use a remote mail exchanger.

If your webhost uses cPanel this is under MX Entry. Choose your domain then under Email Routing select Remote Mail Exchanger. Click Change.

On the same screen edit your MX record to point to the server that hosts your email and save your change. That should get your emails sent out.
