Hosting with Heart Internet

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi Everyone!

Don't know that this is the right place to put this and if not my apologies but I thought i would share the news with the community..

I use Heart Internet's Reseller Hosting service which are awesome value @ around £30 pcm and I asked for the cpanel, which has WordPress, Joomla etc one click installs, to have a C5 one click install as my company has decided to use C5 as our base platform for all sites (Well why wouldn't you!).

Heart have very kindly included it as a standard option with all web space cpanels it even sets up the database params for you!.

Things like this will make C5 the CMS of choice for everyone!

Thanks for reading

Justin

cool

We recommend Heart to a lot of our agencies so this is welcome news.

I asked a while ago so maybe they have had quite a few requests now.

Hey that's impressive. I was trialling Heart reseller a bit back, but I found that C5 was really peculiar to set up. Modrewrite was difficult to setup amongst other things, and their environment had a few funnies that made C5 more difficult to run than usual

In the end I gave up and am now trialling UK2.

Given they have this in the control panel, have they fettled their environment to make C5 easier to get up an running on Heart.

mod rewrite is still an issue but easy enough to get round.

We will be launching concrete5 specific hosting sometime over the next couple of months.

It will basically be some dedicated boxes optimised purely to run concrete5 sites. It has not been finalised yet but I will let everyone know when we are ready to start testing.

With regards to mod rewrite on Heart Internet can you let me know (us) what the easy get round is as I've been struggling to get this to work...?

We have fixed by creating a blank redirect file.

Simply add a file called redirect.php to your webroot.

Then a this to your .htaccess file

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule .$ /redirect.php/$1
</IfModule>

then it should work just fine.

Not having any luck with this, created a blank redirect.php file in the root and change the htaccess. The demo site just resolves to the home page.

This is a demo site installed into a sub folder /c5 so maybe that's the issue.

Also do I need to add define('URL_REWRITING_ALL',true); to the site.php

Hi

I have tested my solution but it does not work with sub directories.

There is a more complex solution that involves a small amount of core code changes.

Check out this thred.

Ye I'm coming to the same conclusion, site's going live at the end of the week so I'll try it then when it's in the root.

Thanks for the help...

OK, good idea.

I am sure it will work fine when on the web root.
