Move block and deleted content issue

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi there,

Just installed version 5.4.1 and have started to get a site up and running. I have come across some strange behavior.

I have to areas, 'main' and 'sidebar'. I add content to sidebar and all is fine. I add content to main and all is fine. Move a block and the content in sidebar disappears.

I have tried saving my edits in between steps and the same thing happens.

Anyone else experienced this?

I am using Chrome as my browser.

Thanks, Christian.

Hi Mnkras,

Tried that, makes no difference.

Any ideas anyone? This one just got me again, probably cost me over half an hour so far.

The strange thing it's just the 'sidebar' area that it's affecting.

Help please!

The plot thickens...

It seems if I edit the blocks after I move them they aren't affected.

If I move them and immediately publish my edits, they disappear.

Add me to the list. Building new site with 5.4.1 and having the same issues. Have 16 other sites previously built on C5 platform without the issue. Just erased and redid page layout so I didn't have to move blocks again. Unless I missed it, newest version didn't address this issue?

I have had this same problem with a few of our latest C5 implementations.

I really need to get this fixed as it just happened to my client and scared her tremendously.

There are no SQL errors output in the error log. I submitted a bug to the bug tracker please go confirm it so we can get this worked out. In the meantime, its off to damage control with the client.

Until its figured out why the content is being deleted... we've saved time recreating pages by using a simple "cut and paste".
Save the content of the block you're moving to the Admin Scrapbook first (left click option on block)so you can paste it into a new block if the original disappears. Still an extra step, but a lot faster than starting content over from scratch.
This may be obvious to everyone already... but I'm not too proud to admit we redid several pages until "the light came on".

edit: We have only experienced this problem on 3-column pages so far.

Having the same issue here. Three column layout. After trying to move a block from below to above another we lost the content from the main area. It also affected a handful of pages that we weren't editing at that moment. The actual content is still in the database but it's not displaying in the blocks it was created it.
did anyone find an answer to this?
