This looks like a great solution. One concern I'd have is that since you're a new company, I might be worried that you won't be around in the long run (I mean, I certainly hope you are, but who knows...). I see that you're running on MediaTemple, so is there some easy way to transfer the site over to another MediaTemple account, or an easy way to retrieve regular backups of the site that can be deployed to any other shared host?
Also, your website doesn't mention anything about direct access to the server. Is FTP access provided? What about SSH? (Or is it all just through Plesk)?

Finally, (and this is more just out of curiosity than anything else), is your company brand new to the C5 community or do you have someone behind the scenes there that I may have seen around the forums before?

Thanks, I'm excited to find out more about your service!

Great questions Jordan. I will do my best to answer them all.

The server space is ultimately MT DV/Nitro machines. This is actually liberating for our concept of affordable, fast C5 hosting. MT offers transfer service, however, you really wouldn't need to do that with Plesks backup manager built right in. But then you do also have database backups as well.

Effectively, because we are not managing the actual data center, our focus is then on support and upkeep/updates. There's really no reason to be concerned with the company backing out.

yes, FTP and SSH access are provided as well.

c5spot is a separate entity independent of any specific user account in the community. For that reason, it needs to maintain a certain amount of anonymity from any specific user. This isn't to be dodgy in any way, it's just important for c5spot to be about it as a business or service, and that alone.

That may change at some point, but for now, we're just excited to be meeting what we view is a much overdue need.

Hi Jordan,

I just updated the pricing grid to include the FTP and SSH details as well. Thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks for the response. I understand you wanting to keep the company image separate from any individual person.

I do want to speak to the other issue though -- you say that "there's no reason to be concerned with the company backing out". I can tell you that from my experience with my clients, this actually is a huge concern. So you might want to address that more directly in your website copy as well. Just more unsolicited advice, though -- I'm not running a hosting service so what do I know :)

Be careful with c5spot.com. They took my $$ and offered nothing in return.
