Projects and addons are so confusing!!!!

I work for 1 business that has 2 websites that are both C5. However the 2 websites are both independent.

I downloaded the advance form addon as we were going to use it for both sites and then purchase another liecence but we are now just going to use it for 1.

The accounts lady without telling me made a new concrete5 account and purchased the addon through there but I want to use it for the other site and project that was already existing.

Why can I download the addon without assining the licence and install it on the other website?

Should each client have thier own concrete5 account and you as a developer assign yourself to that account?

Or should you as a developer set up multiple projects purchase the addons throught there and assign the addons to the website?

What if your client wants to leave you in the future?

Why even assign the addon?

It all sound very confusing

well a few thoughts:
1) You can. If you don't assign licenses, you can download them and install manually.
2) You can release licenses and delete project pages, so if you get it wrong you can always redo it.
3) Explore the "Management team" section of the project page. It lets you join different concrete5 accounts to the same project so you can assign licenses from any. That should address the different ways you might want to work with a client on them. You can even transfer ownership of the project page over that way.

The system is setup this way to enable the 1-click install process, and keep licensing straight. It's a little tricky to get started, but once you understand how it works its really not that bad. Moreover in the latest version we've improved the UI a fair amount.
