Stacks really aren't that great

Hey,
I worked in C5.4 for a long time and am in the process of upgrading to 5.6.2.
Here are my views and concerns with stacks.

I agree global scrapbook could be a bit buggy and a change was needed, but stacks fail.

1) The fact you can have a lot of blocks in one stack is great. My initial thinking was I could now organize my global scrapbook blocks in to stack categories. The problem is as soon as you only add 1 block from a stack (instead of the whole stack), it doesn't get updated if I later edit that block in the stack. It only gets updated if you have added the entire stack to the page.
Why even have the option of adding 1 block from a stack. I don't see where it is useful, but I do see where it will confuse a lot of people.
There probably is some circumstance that it could be helpful, but I can't think of any.
So basically I need to create a bunch of 1 block stacks, which was pretty similar to global blocks.

You can't create a stack from an already existing block on a page sucks (you could do that with scrapbooks). You have to copy and paste text into a new block instead. It seems like an easy enough feature to implement. At least make it so you can paste from Clipboard into stacks. To me that seems like a no brainer to be able to paste from clipboard

Renaming/organizing stacks only through system pages isn't a great solution since I don't give our web editors access to most system pages

Versioning feature of stacks is great though.

Thanks for listening, whoever reads this, and I know I am not the only one with issues. But my biggest gripe is by far the 1st issue I brought up about adding single blocks from scrapbooks and not having them update automatically later.

Currently there is a stack duplicator add-on in marketplace review. So the problem of not being able to copy / duplicate a stack should be resolved soon.

I have been reviewing this and it can also be used to duplicate global areas, so can be useful when a new theme gives them different names. Overall a great addon.

We also have an add-on that improves the stacks page with the following features:
- Paste from clipboard
- Duplicate the stack
- Rename the stack
- Reorder the stacks

We're planning to provide is as a pull request to the core but it is very unlikely that it would be in the next version as the release process of the next version is already too far for introducing new features.

Well, seems like they wanted to introduce new features after all although 5.6.3 was already a RC.

So, all these features will be in the next version:

It was too good to pass up.

Just got 5.6.3, and stacks are suddenly much better.
I still have a gripe that Stacks act global only if you add the whole stack to a page.
If you only add one block from a stack, that block doesn't globally change when the stack is changed, but of course I can just make a bunch of 1 block stacks
