Hi everyone,

Is there a way to accept credit cards on your site without the need of pay pal?

Thanks,

Cristina

Sure, but you will need a payment gateway like authorize.net or fastcharge.com or securepay.com - one alternative to a traditional payment gateway is to use Google Checkout.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have another questino. Do all these payment gateway charge for their service similar to pay pal?
For example, pay pal charges I believe 3% for every transaction.

Thanks so much!

They normally take a monthly fee and then a percentage of your transactions.

Oh. So is there a way to avoid "monthly fees," and percentage fees?

Thanks so much!

no. Merchant banks are in business to make money. You can negotiate those fees down if you're doing a lot of volume (think iTunes store) but you're always going to pay SOMETHING per transaction.

Many thanks, Franz, for responding. Many thanks to everyone else whose name I don't know for responding as well.

I know I could do the resarch myself, but if someone knows this without any research, I am just curious, what is better in the long run if your monthly income is about 10-15 k? Pay pal or some other gateway?

Also, if I will charge in Canadian dollars, what method of payment gateway would you recommend? Thanks!
