Unable to Get Updates or News Info

I have two sites that were updated to 5.4.1.1 from 5.4.1 back in October or November 2010. Since then I have not been able receive any news in the Dashboard and I have not been able to update any Themes or Add-ons. I am always told that everything is up-to-date. When i check the Theme and add-ons, I see there are updates and these are even shown on my Project Page.

I have posted this problem a number of times and have mot had a response.

Please help.

Hmm... Sounds like your site may have lost its "connection to the community"

When you are in your dashboard, and you go to "Add Functionality", from the "More Themes" or "More Add-Ons" links, do you get to look at themes and add-ons or do you get a message about connecting to the community / an error?

If that's the case, here is a tutorial to help you get this squared away:

I did what the link said to do.

When I went to reconnect to the Community, I got the following:

Unable to generate a marketplace token. Please ensure that allow_url_fopen is turned on, or that cURL is enabled on your server. If these are both true, It's possible your site's IP address may be blacklisted for some reason on our server. Please ask your webhost what your site's outgoing cURL request IP address is, and email it to us at help@concrete5.org.

What do I do to clear this and reconnect?

When i sent this message (Unable to generate a marketplace token. Please ensure that allow_url_fopen is turned on, or that cURL is enabled on your server. If these are both true, It's possible your site's IP address may be blacklisted for some reason on our server. Please ask your webhost what your site's outgoing cURL request IP address is, and email it to us at help@concrete5.org.) to my web hosting service, this is the reply I got back:

"Thank you for contacting our technical support team.

As you may see from this linkhttp://www.unitedprestroy.org/phpinfo.php... allow_url_fopen, allow_url_include and curl extension are enabled on your server. Please check it from your end. If you still have issues generating "marketplace token" please contact your application developer and ask for other reasons of such issue.

Should you have any further questions or problems, please feel free to contact us anytime. We are available 24/7."

I hope this can be used this to clear the problem for the website (http://www.unitedprestroy.org) and re-establish the C5 Community Connection.

Can you PM me the IP address your server uses for outbound CURL
requests? Its possible our firewall has you blocked out for some
unrelated reason.

best wishes

I had this problem and after loads of searching i didnt find the answer but i managed to figure it out !

On my hosted server was i spotted a section called outgoing connections (may be a little different on other servers).
In there was a list of blocked and allowed IP addresses. I spotted the C5 IP address had resolved and listed the C5 domain name but this was all under BLOCKED IP. I clicked add to ALLOWED IP for the C5 site.

Once the IP address were allowed it worked fine for me. I connected to the community and installed the theme perfectly :-)
