(why -must-) connecting site to concrete5 community?

err...actually it started when i had a problem with one of concrete5 addon: global areas. I found when i use it in my site, after i select one page, edit window didnt give me list of block in that page. Instead, it give me "unable to load sitemap data" window...

Even after i reinstall that addon, it still appear. At that time, my site isnt connected to concrete5 (well, i admit that i still dont know how to -_-"). So at that time, i install all addon and theme manually. First i copied all file into my webserver. Then i go to dashboard and install it.

In my frustation, i found how to connect my site to concrete5 community. After my site is connected, i tried to reinstall this addon via dashboard. And hoopla~ it works!

But until now i still dont know whats wrong with my manual installation of that addon?

Nothing is wrong with it. Maybe you just needed to be connected to the community?

No idea why it wasn't working, you shouldn't have to connect to the community. How did you install the addon, and were there any errors in the install process?

there's no error when i install it...
when it comes to addon, usually i put file/folder into "blocks" folder in concrete webserver. I notice sometimes when i accidentally put my addon/theme in wrong folder, it didnt show in dashboard to be installed.

My guess is because of file/folder permission. But dunno where...

yeah, you need to put the things you download from the mp in the /packages folder.
