Addons/blocks displaying for some, not at all for others

Hi all

Got a really weird issue going on. I downloaded some gallery/image addons for my site, put them on my page and they work fine on my 2 PCs in all browsers, but for other people its very hit and miss as to whether they show.

One friend who also has 2 PC's finds the addons show on one PC and not the other, and switching between browsers doesn't help.

I asked my dad to check and his home PC and work PC neither show any of the 4 different addons I have placed on my page.

Does anybody have any ideas as this is driving me nuts!

Thanks

Page is at:http://amb-engineering.com/index.php/gallery/...

Forgot to mention, to make this is even more interesting, my dad who can not see any gallery addons whilst logged out, can see them all fine logged in! However for myself and some others I can see them fine logged out. It just seems to be totally random, but I cant understand why logging in would fix it. If its permissions then surely nobody would see them logged out?

Thanks

Hi There,

It does sound like a permissions problem to me, I would check on page level and go into your systems and settings and check under "Permissions and access" too, there are a number of way permissions can be set, so I would not rule it out.

Hi Vidall, thanks for trying to help.

My page permissions are set to Read only for Guests, none set for Registered, and all set for Admins.

Under the other area you mention I get "Your concrete5 site does not use the simple permissions model. You must change your permissions for each specific page and content area.". I did make the change for advanced myself as I thought it might help.

Block permissions are set to the same.

Thanks

Did you turn advanced permissions on, and than turn them off at some point, and than possibly back on again when trying to sort the above out ?

While trying to sort it out, yes I did turn them on - off - and now on.

Have I made things worse? (not that I was getting anywhere with this issue!)

Yes I think you have. There is a warning in the advanced permissions how-to that warns against turning them off after turning them on, that it may cause problems. Turning them on, off, and then on is probably worse. I would imagine that it has saved those original permissions although you have turned them off.

If it were me I would try turning advanced permissions on, and then go page by page resetting each page permission to inherit from parent, and turning by area off. I would cross my fingers very tightly, and hope that when I cleared cache that it would clear it all up. There's probably a much easier way to try to reset these permissions, but your going to have to cross the fingers on your other hand as well, and hope that c5's finest see this thread.

Thanks for trying to help.

Just noticed something - when you access it with just http://, it works fine, but if you access it withhttp://wwww. then it doesnt work. Cant possibly imagine why "www" changes what's displayed!?

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Hang on a minute.....I'm not sure its permissions after, when I log into the website with www. instead (I normally omit it), even whilst logged in and editing the page, the gallery content is not there!

Its as if http and www. are displaying different content - but this is only the case for addons, not inbuilt blocks.

OK this is just weird...

I deleted and remade the Gallery page. Now when you go via WWW, it works, fine, but now without them, you don't even see the link in the navigation! If you try to go to the URL without WWW, it takes you to the old gallery in the "trash" and days cannot find!

Eugh what's going on concrete5....

I think I may have finally fixed it!

Not sure exactly what the cure was but I did all these and then it finally worked:

1. delete the page
2. recreate it
3. add the www. url as an alternate path
4. delete all trash items
5. clear the cache
