Captch image not showing

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi,

I have a problem in a Guestbook. I can enable Captcha and it shows the lines etc. but not the letters. I have looked for solution here on the forum but couldn't find any. Advanced guestbook isn't a option because it's not supported by this version on Concrete 5.

Any solution how to get it to work or to install something else to prevent spam or have spamcontrol. (# Concrete5 Versie: 5.5.2.1)

Please help, there's a lot of spam I have to delete of my clients website :(.

Thanks,
Maarten

I have also struggled with this and I think you should read this post: http://www.concrete5.org/developers/pro-accounts/community-leaders-...

Edit: Advanced Guestbook does run on 5.5.2.1, it just hasn't been marked as 5.5 compatible by the author of the add-on. You need to download it and install it manually (by unzipping it to your packages folder and then go to /index.php/dashboard/extend/install/). I'm using it myself.

Thank you for your reply, going to try Advanced Guestbook.
Could not follow the link. Do I need a pro account for that?

Sorry about that...

Basically what it says is you should use ReCaptcha from mkly on github if you are on 5.5+: https://github.com/mkly/addon_recaptcha...

1. Download the zip file and upload the 'recaptcha' folder from that zip to domain.com/packages (the packages folder in your root).

2. Once that is done go to domain.com/dashboard/extend/install/ and install the recaptcha add-on.

3. When the add-on has been installed, go to domain.com/dashboard/system/permissions/captcha/ and choose recaptcha instead of SecureImage.

4. To get your keys, click on 'Sign Up Now!' here: http://www.google.com/recaptcha/whyrecaptcha...

Good luck!

Hi, I get the same error: Captcha image not showing on concrete5.6.1.2.de.
So I downloaded recaptcha master 1.1., but I can‘t find a way to put in my Public Key and my Private Key. :(
I 've read several threads here, but they seem to be old: many files in concrete must be edited.
So please tell me, where to put in / edit the keys.

BTW: my guestbook looks at this:

And here are Screenshots of my reCHAPTA install.

Maybe somebody can help?

Now I‘ve installed the english version of concrete5.6.1.2.
Same results:
no image with the built in captcha (SecurImage)
and no key input fields for reCAPTCHA
(see attachment)

Oh, thanx. I hope it will help. :)

Now I've read, that the captcha (not re-captcha) problem is because of the known Freetype problem (only) on Mac OS X (Server) 10.6 (Snow Leopard), which can only be solved by re-compiling PHP, see:
http://www.gen-x-design.com/archives/recompiling-php-5-3-on-snow-le...
I tried this, but get sticked on the last step. :(
So I copied my complete server image back to hd and now I have a fresh concrete5 install again. :)
So it would be very nice if you could help me, to install recaptcha!

Hi,

things are getting better: I get a pictures in securimage captcha (see attachment).
They are a little bit funny, as I surely edited to much in the securimage.php file. :)
I think I used "use_gd_font = true" too often, but I hope I‘ll find this.
May somebody help me?

Edit: hmm, it's only the background image, which is shown now. :)

Hi,
so I'll give it a new try. :)
For some reasons, captcha, recaptcha and other captchas work perfectly on my forum (phpBB) - which is also installed on my server - for 8 months.
So I have to check out, why captcha and recaptcha don't work with concrete5 for me.
I'll search for the differences in these two php apps, to find a solution. When I find it, I'll post it here. :)
