character count in composer?

I'd love to see an optional character count in composer blocks. For instance, maybe the description, counting down from a default 160 and have that number changeable..
Does this exist?
I use description and sometimes custom fields for page list content, rather than truncating content from main. Some clients don't want to have words/sentences cut off in the middle and want to spend more time composing the blurb so that it ends within the correct count, which is where the character counter would come in handy.
