Company Index Site - just after thoughts / ideas on best setup

Hi there,

Pretty experienced with C5, I just hate missing a trick and setting up sites one way and realising I missed a trick so throwing it out to see if anyone has any clever tips, ideas on best practices.

SITE AIM
- it will be a company index site, with fixed fields for each company. Name, Multiple Images (possibly, slideshow), Description, Address, Tel, Fax, Email

I am guessing I make a template for a Company entry page and setup default blocks for each of these fields.

Is there a way to do it so on adding a new page of a certain type you have to fill out each of these fields and then it populates the relevant areas? Rather like with composer?

Secondly, the front page will act as an index where thumbnails represent each company.

- any suggestions on how to make the frontpage image inde automatic so it draws in a company image and sorts it by a field, probably alphabetically? Would be nice if one added a company page and it automatically was added to the company index etc?

Ideally I would make this fairly rigid and automated to remove duplication of work. Much like a database, however I dont want to be using joomla or other big tools cos I love C5?

Any thoughts / ideas would be very much appreciated.

1. You could use composer, or write your own version of composer.

2. You can use the pagelist with a custom template.

Otherwise you could 100% do this with composer but the fact that you cannot set the page attributes to be "required" by the user. They are always optional...
