Custom attribute changing CSS background

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi - I'm trying to puzzle out a simple way of using custom attributes to change the background image in a specified div tag on a page. This is to avoid doing numerable templates just for a small image change.

At the moment I have in my banner area
<div id="jigsaw">
            </div>

This div has a background image in it called jigsaw1. I would like to set up an attribute so that I can change the image that turns up on a page based on which attribute I select. The background graphics that would change would be called jigsaw2, jigsaw3 etc and would hopefully update the div accordingly.

Any suggestions on the best way of doing this?? Many thanks
