Duplicate parts of the home page for other pages

Permalink 1 user found helpful
I've been reading through the forum and other docs but can't seem to wrap my brain around this.

I have my home page like I want in the areas of the header and footer. There are multiple blocks involved. I now want to duplicate these onto a default page I plan on using on all internal pages.

I see the move/copy button but I haven't been able to get this to work from the home page to internal pages.

Thanks.

Hi jfuqua,

There are two easy ways to share multiple blocks across multiple pages:

1 - Create a stack, and the blocks you want inside that stack. Then you add the stack on the pages you want those blocks to appear. When you edit the stack, you change all the stacks everywhere.
2 - Define these blocks in the page type defaults - The blocks will appear on all pages that belong to that page type, and if you change one block a new instance is created and the block is "disconnected" from the page type default. Does this makes sense?

You may also combine the two options: create a stack with multiple blocks inside, and then add that stack to the page type defaults.

Good luck!

I went ahead went with the page template direction. It went really well and, hopefully, is all I need. I do need to check out the global areas add-on as it looks like it does exactly what I need.

Thanks!

I wasn't aware of these add-ons. This will be useful. Thanks!
