Error with updating from 5.6.2.1 to 5.6.3.2 - user logon to protected page - banner section dissappeared

Dear fellow users,

I designed this website for our diving team and I experience 3 major problems. I have a local C5 expert but he has a burn-out now and can not assist me anymore. I am at the point now that I want to make the decision to redesign in a different CMS like Wordpress or Drupal, but the fact is I actually rather don't want.

Is the anybody that can provide assistance or has knowlegde of the following issues?

1) upgrading
I keep getting an internal server 500 issue when downloading the installation file prior to installation. I am trying to upgrade from 5.6.2.1 to 5.6.3.2.

2) user logon to protected page
All users have a uname and pword and after entering the site they should move to the protected site or page which should appear. They can download some training material etc. over there. It works for members who are administrator. But I don't want users to be admins.

3) I use a slideshow in the header which displays above each page a set of special adjusted pictures and since a few months it is not displayen anymore. I resetted cache, re re fitted the slideshow etc. etc. etc.

I really need some assistance here.

Kind regards Kees

1) If you follow this How To, it should help you upgrade your site. Make sure that you upgrade from 5.6.2.1 to 5.6.3 and then 5.6.3.2. http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/developers/manually-...

2) If you go into the System & Settings for your site and go to Login Destination, here you should be able to set where the users go when they log in.

3) Can you send a URL to your site? It could be many different things that cause the slideshow block to stop working and it would be easier to determine what the problem is if I could look at it.

Dear Hutman

I did a check on the following.

1) I went to the URL that should host the various versions, but that page does not exist.http://www.concrete5.org/developers/downloads/...

2) I did the following. Once a user logs in a members page becomes available in which they can download documents, meeting minutes etc. But non of the users can see this page except if they are an admin, then it works flawlessly.

3) the site run in a subdomain, since this hosting site not supports C5 and I do not have a script to migrate from the subdomain to the root domain, The site ishttp://submarine2012.duikvereniging-submarine.nl/index.php.... If you want to have a lookI can give you a logon, but prefer to share it privately.

kind regards,

1) The Concrete5 website was redone since that article. Here is the new pagehttp://www.concrete5.org/developers/developer-downloads/...

2) Check the permissions for your page in the Full Sitemap and make sure that you have access allowed to Registered Users and not just Administrators, this sounds like a permissions issue.

3) You can either PM me, or this one is going to be hard to solve, if you look in your PHP Logs are there any PHP errors, or are there any Javascript errors in the console of the browser on the page?

Dear Hutman,

1) I will try and follow the instructions to update.

2) Advance features tell me: Your concrete5 site does not use the simple permissions model. You must change your permissions for each specific page and content area.
I kinda lost track here

3) Can you drop me a line on webmaster@duikvereniging-submarine.nl so I can mail you the login credentials. You can also register yourself, i can grant you access as a member. then you can see what I mean with the visibilaty of certain pages and I can promote you to admin ifyou like to take over the console.

kind regards

1) Let me know how this goes, make sure you do a full database backup before you do it.

2) You will need to go to the Full Sitemap in the Dashboard and click on the specific page you want to look at the permissions for and change them there.

3) Once your upgrade is done if this issue still persists I can create a user on the site.

For the upgrade:

Download 5.6.0, 5.6.3 and 5.6.3.2 from the downloads page. Unzip all 3 of these on your local machine

On the server (through FTP) in the updates folder create 3 folders called concrete5.6.0, concrete5.6.3 and concrete5.6.3.2

From your unzipped folders on your local find the concrete directory when I unzipped it came out to be Downloads/concrete5.6.0/concrete5.6.0/concrete - upload only this folder to the server's /updates/concrete5.6.0 folder

Do this for all 3 updates

Then login to the Dashboard of your site, go to System & Settings and then to Update concrete5 this should show you the 3 upgrades that you have ready to go.

Select 5.6.0 and do the upgrade (this will take a while)

Once that's done go back and do the 5.6.3 and then the 5.6.3.2

You will then need go to back to your System & Settings and turn on Advanced Permissions again, the permissions change completely from 5.5 to 5.6 so you will need to check that you permissions carried over.

Dear hutman,

Downloaded, 5.6.0, 5.6.3 and 5.6.3.2, unzipped and ftp-ed to the upgrade directory as per your instructions.
After went to the dashboard, system & settings, update concrete 5, I still see 1 available update, version: 5.6.3.2. with a download button behind it. once clicking that button i twill time out.
The screen that you describes is not appearing.

Feel free to come to the site and check yourself.

Or drop me a line on webmaster@duikvereniging-submarine.nl

Dear Andrew,

Did exactly what you asked and after clearing the cache of the site i saw an "install local update" screen with 3 versions. Current version 5.6.1.2 and to selectable versions 5.6.3 and 5.6.2.1.
I tried both but will all result in the following:
Upgrade to 5.6.1.2 complete! with a back to home button (and a re-run possibilty).

Also i tried to create a new user account, but no way i can add that account to the admin group. I think there is something terrible wrong here.
