I am trying to fork the core Guestbook Block.

The reason is that I need to use as well comments (which use the Guestbook block), and a basic forum (also Guestbook-block-based), but with different settings.

In my understanding, It is necessary to fork the block, because a custom view template will not pick up the different settings (captcha, registration ecc)...

And alle the other "Comment" / or "Forum"-Add-Ons don't seem suitable, I want to keep the data on my server and a "big forum solution" does not make any sense. So I'll just try to duplicate the guestbook-block, give it a new name and use it as it is.

So - are there any thing to keep in mind? What can I break? Has somebody done this before? Thank you very much for any hints :)
