I bumped into a need which I do not yet know how to solve and which may be present for others too.

When I am running a membership-site, be it paid membership or whatever else, the "Remove from group after a time"-Function is extremely useful.

What I am missing is a notification Email sent to the user just some days before removal, so the user has the chance to renew the membership.

I am pretty sure this can be done easily, as the time interval and the user-specific removal is already there in the core. All that needs to be done is hooking into this function and adding the possibility to automatically send an email like 14 or 30 days before.

Has anybody thought of a solution for this?
