Groups of blocks

July 03, 2009
I'm just wondering is there a way how I can create a group from any combination of existing blocks ?

Let's say I have created banners and now I want to create versions of left hand column using that banners.

Is that possible ?

Cheers,

Peter

you can use your scrapbook to keep those blocks handy, and you can create new block types with a little bit of php development, but you cant clump blocks up or create "nested" blocks.

thanx for quick reply

it would be quite handy to have groups of blocks.

i'm guessing it should be possible to create a new block that would just act as holder for any combination of blocks.

let's say when i open edit interface of that group i would add new blocks same way as i do in areas with single blocks.

reusing all interface that you've built already.

so that new block should be able to load any block with it's add/edit interface in a popup allow me to add content for block in group.

do u think is that doable ?

p.s. i've created some new block types already just by changing existing blocks adding something to them or combining them together.

I've done a footer links block which allows me to choose existing internal (or external) link (using that sitemap intereface in popup) so i think this should be possible what i'm trying to do.

thanx

peter
