I found the stupid mistake. It might be fun to guess what it was....
If not, please give this a pass. I tried to delete just too late.

For the past 18 months or so I've been building a set of related websites sharing their /concrete and /packages folders. I've posted the basics at
https://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/customizing_c5/multiple-s...

I made two changes since then: I switched development to another server and upgraded to 8.3.2.
The change in servers did allow me to insert symlinks into the folders rather than relying on the index.php file.

Today, I noticed that content entered on one site was appearing on all. This has not been an issue before.

All database.php files are set up as they were, pointing to their individual databases. /application directories are kept separate.

Of course I'm at a juncture with the development: Leadership is now committed to the project and starting to take an interest in seeing it done soon.

Why now?
What now?

Any clues? (I will accept told-you-so's if they lead to something constructive)

THE ANSWER WAS I RUSHED AND DIDN'T CHECK MY WORK. VERY EMBARRASSED. THE /APPLICATION/CONFIG/DATABASE.PHP FILE WAS NOT UPDATED.
