How do I create a block template to change how a block appears?

Most professional looking websites show-cased on C5 don't use teh default blocks. Naturally they don't focus on looks as much as they do on providing a basic function.
I would like to edit blocks to change the following:
Change buttons (Eg. submit button)
Change the text in a block (default text)
Change the layout of a default contents
Change fonts etc.

I haven't done a lot with it myself, but you can add a template for your blocks to use and there's a link to overriding in there as well.
