making new pages exclude from nav

Hello, I am trying to make pages but not have them show in auto nav. To explain...I have lots of artwork pictures on my site, and want to have people click on them, and be redirected to another page with details and larger image. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I am a newbie, and novice with websites in general, so please use simple explanations, I don't understand codes.

Once you have created the page, click Edit Page -> Properties -> Custom attributes (tab), then somewhere under 'Navigation and Indexing' will be all sorts of options for excluding pages.
