Manually Uploading Files

Is there a way that I can manually upload files. I have larger files to upload and I can't seem to do it correctly in the File Manager. They upload, but do not create thumbnails. I have tried creating thumbnails manually and uploading them to the thumbnail folder but it still doesn't register the image. Do I need to change other files?

Please help, I desperately need to get this working for a website.

Cheers in advance.

I haven't tried it myself, but in the File Manager, near the Upload button there is a link 'More'.

Click on that and you have an option to add from incoming directory, which is /files/incoming

So I'm thinking you could upload to this folder then add through the file manager as you normally would.

don't think u can (read: should) upload the thumbnails manually.

then again, i might be wrong.

try scan the uploaded images see if it works

The problem is that the website is run on 5.2.0 and we can't find 5.2.1 to upgrade first to that and then 5.3.0

Seeing as the Incoming files folder isn't available on 5.2.0 or I am missing something.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a 5.2.1 upgrade, this site lists it as AWOL!!

I have the same problem. Even using the "More" link for multiple file uploads results in zilch. It goes through the motions, even with a progress bar, but it doesn't show up in the File Manager. Please Help!!! This is version 5.3.1.1

I followed ScottC's advice from another thread, and loaded the files in from the "incoming" folder (I had to create the "incoming" folder in the "public_html/files" directory using Fetch) but afterwords, they showed up in the File Manager.

I know you posted this awhile ago so this is probably out of date - but for anyone reading this thread...

1. concrete 5.2.1 has been added here:

http://www.concrete5.org/developers/all_downloads/...

2. You shouldn't have to upgrade to 5.2.1 to upgrade to 5.3. Most concrete5 upgrades should work from any version to any newer version 5.2.0 to 5.3.1.1 should be fine, 5.2.1 to 5.3.0, etc... They should all work.

Granted, the older and older your site gets the more apt things are likely to go awry when trying to update to a newer version, so it's good practice to upgrade as often as you can - but you definitely don't have to upgrade to each and every point release in order to get to our latest stuff (and if you find that IS the case, then that's a bug that we need to fix.)

I see this thread is a couple of years old but thought I would throw in my experience real quick.

I was having problems with the file uploader hanging up on me. It would just get stuck. I found this thread while trying to find a way to manually upload files.

Here's what worked for me:

I use the Filezilla FTP client. I logged in to the server and went to the "files/incoming" folder and uploaded my problem files there. Then, I went into the site's file manager and chose the multiple uploads option. I chose the "incoming files" tab and there were my problem files, all ready to be added to the C5 file system.

It seems like a bit of a workaround but at least it did work. Maybe someone else coming along viewing this thread will get some help.

The way you are describing it is the designed way to upload large files , many files or a total file size over the set limit.
