Need a better spam blocker for Simple Blog comments

I have a client who is getting a lot of spam from the comments in the add on Simple Blog. there is a basic captcha already coded in, but somehow the spam-bots have figured out a way through. Does anyone have any idea how to tighten security on the basic captcha found in Simple Blog and other comments features in Concrete5?

I would grab this:

http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/advanced-comments/...

and then just edit the page_type defaults for the sb_post page_type and replace the current guestbook with an improved captcha.

I think this will work. I haven't changed the php at all in the files. If I understand you correctly, all of these changes can be made on the front end?

yeah, you want to go to dashboard/pages and themes/page types, and edit the default content for a sb_post page type to sub out the existing guestbook with a new one.
