Newly created (or copied) pages not appearing in dashboard sitemap

Not really sure how else to phrase this. We create a new page either from an existing page, or the sitemap, and/or we copy an existing page using the sitemap, but the pages do not appear in the list.
However, the number of child pages shown in brackets after the name of the parent, increases (see screenshot: the Genesis (Shipping) section reports to have 8 children but only 6 are shown)
Anyone got any ideas?
