I've done this. ProBlog mobile app is PG with jQm. I had a great time with it. I also developed a fully functioned C5 admin app...but never released it.

Tools files are what you need to focus on. Developing your own API interaction via tools files that interact with a custom model layer proved to be the way to go for me.
