Pretty URL strange behaviour

Hey guys,

I searched the forum for few hours now and cannot find an answer to this so please help a beginner to master this nice product.

I have enabled pretty URL in Dashboard / ...
I have copied the indicated mod_rewrite code in .htaccess

Now:
I have a page named "tub", place directly under the home page in sitemap.
I need this page to appear in the browser when this link is requested:
http://mysite/bath/tub

For this I have added in the Additional Page URL (in the Page Properties -> Page Path and Location) a "/bath/tub" alias, whilst the canonical one is "tub".

Now, when I enterhttp://mysite/bath/tub it goes to the desired page BUT the address in the browser address bar switches tohttp://mysite/tub. So I am loosing the sudirectory info which I need to keep for the visitors.

How can I fix this??

Alternatively, how can I create subdirectories in the site map (or site tree). If you look at this help dochttp://www.concrete5.org/documentation/general-topics/site-tree/)... it shows that there are some subdir icons that I don't have at all in my sitemap.
How can I create this type of subdirs? (I know that if I'm able to create subdirs then the canonical URL will have bath/tub format so my problem is solved.)

TIA,
Lian

Would this be something that you could use a page alias for?

If you go in the Dashboard->Sitemap you can drag the tub page into a different directory and select "Alias" and then you will have the same page in two different places.

Hey,

Thanks for the fast reply.

I don't think page alias is what I need. But anyway, as I said, in the sitemap I don't have any directory or subdirectory; so I cannot drag it anywhere. How can I create new direcory/subdirectory?

Thanks again,
Lian

Directories are just pages.

If you don't want anything to be at that page you can just create a blank page and use an addon to redirect to the child page

This addon can do that

http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/page-redirect/...

you have to install this addon first to use it
