Primary nav contains IP instead of domain

Not sure where to put this, but a client of ours has an odd thing where the primary navigation (autonav) is displaying the IP address for the server in the link, rather than the domain. Client reports this happening in IE and Chrome.

I logged in to the site and this seems to fix the problem. I logged out and couldn't seem to replicate it. Apparently it happens only every so often.

Any ideas?

This is on a 5.7 (5.7.5.8) site, by the way. As far as I can tell, autonav generates absolute links, so how is it that the browser is rewriting the links?

Did you check that that's actually the IP address of the site and when you click the link it does work?

I am asking because sometimes (often?) when there seem to be intermittent problems like that, it could be due to a virus on the user's computer in which case that IP address might be to a third party website or something like that. And because you, I assume on a separate computer, can't seem to reproduce the issue, I'd say it's worth investigating that possibility.

Hey, mnakalay. Thanks for the reply. Yes, it's the IP of the server where the site is hosted. Certainly, it doesn't seem to be anything malicious going on.

I, too, thought it could be malware or some third-party software/plugin. Odd that the client reports it happening in Chrome as well.

Could it be some kind of DNS glitch? I'm not sure.

Edit: Oh, and the link doesn't work, because it's trying to go to the IP, e.g., 69.89.31.226/about-us/ (not a real example, by the way).

Also I'm not sure it's going to be super helpful but someone else had this same issue a while backhttps://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/usage/links-using-ip-addr...

Actually, that looks very relevant. I will try that and see how it goes.
