Problems editing a new page.

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi,

As a C5 newbie I am having difficulty editing a new page for this site:http://www.cadogans.com/. The page will contain an iFrame for a Wordpress database.

I've set the new page (http://www.cadogans.com/expert) to not show in the main menu so that once it is complete I can use it to replace an existing page.

There are several problems with the new page that I am having difficulty fixing:

1. the new page displays an ugly sitemap - how do I get rid of this?

2. the main horizontal navigation is not visible - how can this be made visible?

3. the background image seems to be obscured by a sea of white (it should look like the attached).

Any help would be most appreciated!

Many thanks,
Gary

Try putting the page in Edit Mode and clicking on the ugly horizontal nav and choosing 'Custom Template'. Choose 'dynav' from the list. That's what the other pages in the site are using.

As for the iframe, there is a free iframe block that should do the trick. Just set it to the width and height you want. There's also a free dynamic iframe add-on but I've never had any luck getting it to resize automatically. The 'sea of white' might disappear when there is actual content on the page.

Hi mhawke,

I had to start over. I created a new page and seem to be getting on the right track now.

I just need to figure out how to strip out elements from Wordpress pages.

Thanks for your help (and John too!)

Hi Gary,

I don't think you even need a custom page type for this, the whitespace theme comes with a Full one.

Here's an example using Remo's free Iframe block with a width of 100%, height of 1070px, no scrolling (and Design of margin top of -230px):

As far as I know, the dynamic iframe only works on pages in your site, not an external one like your wordpress one.

I believe the Wordpress site is on the same domain. This question is also posted in the 'Jobs; forum with a little more details:

Yeah, I realized that right after I posted.

If you followed the link above, you could pretty much tell I'd seen the job posting :)

I don't believe the Iframe block is included, certainly not in the 5.4.2.1 version he's running.

Thanks again guys! The dynamic iFrame seems to work well.
