CodeStrat's ProEvents features a lot of excellent calendar views out of the box (list, mini-month with list dropdown, month/day/week toggle calendar)http://codestrat.com/products/proevents/....
Are any of these view modes already responsive/mobile-optimized out-of-the-box or do they have to be styled?

Probably best to send Chad a PM direct or even better use the Pre-Sales Questions section in the relevant product in the Marketplace.
They should be fine within a theme that is designed responsive. None of the provided example views are fixed width.
The calendar views might get hairy on very small screen sizes, but overall should be fine.
Regardless, you would want to look into "custom block views" to make any tweeks and add any @media specific css as desired.
